Now available on Amazon, this illustrated selection of thirteen stories is a record of my hallucinations, waking dreams and nightmares, inhabited by space explorers, lovers, ghosts and monsters. Some are human, others non-human.
I'm scheduled to be interviewed and read from the anthology on KMRD radio (96.9 FM) Monday, 24 June, 2019, 7 p.m. MDT. Tune in or listen online.
Also, if you're interested in purchasing a copy, click on the cover image on the right side of the page. By the way, the cover illustration was done by my daughter, Abigail.John Newcomb Crainhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18354979696877316522noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6819779204412875241.post-13333481504348560522018-10-23T10:24:00.002-06:002018-10-23T10:24:59.416-06:00

It was originally published on Medium, where Tyler Brouwer, Chronicle Stories' content manager saw it, contacted me, asking if I'd like to put it on their publication.John Newcomb Crainhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18354979696877316522noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6819779204412875241.post-43765517352002731892018-06-23T11:08:00.003-06:002018-06-23T11:16:42.126-06:00Posted some new stuff on Medium recently:
https://medium.com/@jncrain/space-time-and-things-between-a878abf7cba7

Both pieces are excerpts from my book, Ysobel (still in progress), but I think they can stand by themselves as short stories.

Also submitted a flash fiction piece, The Bureaucrat, to a few places. The rejections are starting to pour in. It's currently still out at Factor Four Magazine. If it doesn't get accepted pretty quick, maybe I'll put it up on Medium.
They played an audio version of one of my stories, The Sphere, and spent some time interviewing me. I've done a lot of readings of my work in front of audiences, so I'm used to that, but this was the first time I've done a radio thing. Interesting experience.

If you want to read The Sphere, just click on the "Stories" tab, above.

KMRD is broadcast out of Madrid, New Mexico, and can also be live streamed on the internet. Pretty amazing little community station. But then Madrid is a pretty amazing little community.
If you haven't checked out Medium, I'd highly recommend it - a very interesting site. To see my work and profile go to:

It's kind of goofy but fun, old-fashioned sci-fi. The Corner Bar seemed like a very appropriate venue.

I'm still working on editing my novel, Ysobel, the first in a series about alternate universe experiences of a man named Connor Maddock. I think Ysobel can best be described as a sci-fi romance.

The second book in the series, Ninety Degrees From Yesterday, is more of a thriller. It, too, is essentially finished and undergoing what I hope to be final editing.

I've recently begun work on a third volume, Infinity Times Four, but have no idea where it's going to lead.

In the meantime, I've written some short stories, some of which have been published, others of which languish.John Newcomb Crainhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18354979696877316522noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6819779204412875241.post-69578502785080936242018-05-10T17:55:00.002-06:002018-05-10T17:55:18.464-06:00After much neglect, I think it's time to start posting.John Newcomb Crainhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18354979696877316522noreply@blogger.com0
